【土曜講座】 英語セミナー報告「Halloween Special」

10月4日（土）、本校では土曜講座の一環として、英語セミナー「Halloween Special」を実施しました。毎年恒例となったこのセミナーは、英語を“学ぶ”だけでなく、“使って伝える”体験を重視しており、生徒たちが英語での表現力やコミュニケーション力を楽しく伸ばす機会となっています。
〇多様な文化にふれる英語セミナー
当日は、三重県内で英語教育に携わる複数のALT（外国語指導助手）の先生方を講師に迎えました。先生方の出身は、ジャマイカ、イギリス、南アフリカ、アメリカ、オーストラリアなど世界各地にわたり、それぞれの文化や英語の発音の違いにも自然に触れることができました。
セミナーはオールEnglishで進行され、生徒たちは日本語を使わずに活動に取り組みました。ALTの先生方が司会を務め、ゲームやグループワークを通して、楽しく英語で交流する時間となりました。
〇英語で伝える！ハロウィーン・アクティビティ
今年のテーマは「Halloween」。各グループはALTの指示や質問を英語で理解し、コミュニケーションを取りながら一つの課題に挑戦しました。
活動では、英語によるヒントや説明をもとに、グループで協力しながら“モンスター”のイラストを完成させていくというユニークなゲームを実施。
ALTの先生が出す英語の質問や特徴の説明（例：“It has three eyes.” “Its body is very big.” “It wears a hat.”など）を、チームのメンバーが聞き取り、絵で表現していきました。言葉を頼りに形や色をイメージする活動では、生徒たちが笑顔で英語を使いながら相談し合う姿が見られ、教室は明るい雰囲気に包まれました。
完成したモンスターのイラストはどれも個性豊かで、グループごとに英語の理解力や発想力が光る作品が出来上がりました。
〇生徒の感想と成果
生徒たちは、英語を使って伝え合う楽しさを実感したようです。活動後には、
「ALTの先生の英語を聞き取ろうと集中できた」
「自分の考えを英語で伝えることが楽しかった」
「グループで協力して1枚の絵を完成させる達成感があった」
といった声が聞かれました。
〇まとめ
今回のセミナーでは、英語を通して異文化を体験しながら、自ら考え、表現する力を伸ばすことができました。生徒たちが積極的に英語で交流する姿から、これまでの学びの成果と、今後への意欲が感じられました。
本校では、こうした英語セミナーを今後も継続的に実施し、生徒が「使える英語」を身につける機会を充実させていきます。
English Seminar Report — Halloween Special

On Saturday, October 4, Mie Senior High School held an English Seminar as part of our Saturday Lecture Program. This year’s theme was “Halloween.” The seminar gave our students a chance to enjoy using English while learning about cultures around the world.
Learning English from Global Teachers
We invited several ALT (Assistant Language Teachers) who teach English in Mie Prefecture. The teachers came from many countries, including Jamaica, the United Kingdom, South Africa, the United States, and Australia. Students were excited to hear different accents and stories from each country.
The whole seminar was conducted entirely in English, and students also used English in all group activities. The ALTs led the program with cheerful energy, creating a lively and friendly atmosphere.
Fun Halloween Activity
The main activity was a creative group challenge. Each group listened carefully to the ALT’s English instructions and clues and tried to draw an original monster based on what they heard.
For example, students listened to sentences such as:
“It has three eyes.”
“It wears a big hat.”
“Its body is very big and green.”
Students discussed ideas in English and worked together to draw their monsters. Everyone laughed and helped each other while trying to understand the hints correctly. The finished drawings were all unique and full of imagination!

“I tried hard to catch every word the ALT said.”
“It was fun to explain ideas in English.”
“We could work together and finish one picture as a team!”
Growing Through English
Through this seminar, students learned that English is not only a school subject, but also a tool to connect with people from different countries. It was a great opportunity to use English naturally, communicate with confidence, and enjoy learning through real interaction.
Mie Senior High School will continue to offer English seminars like this, helping students use English actively and learn about the world.
