【国際教育部】土曜講座、校内英語セミナー
12月6日（土）、本校では国際教育部主催の英語セミナー「Christmas Special」を開催しました。本セミナーは、英語を“学ぶ”だけでなく“使う”ことを大切にした本校の人気企画であり、生徒たちが実際に英語でコミュニケーションを楽しむ場として定期的に実施しています。
今回のセミナーには、三重県内で英語教育に携わる複数のALT（外国語指導助手）の先生方9名を講師として迎えました。アメリカ、イギリス、オーストラリア、ジャマイカなど多様な国籍の先生方との交流により、生徒たちは英語の響きや文化の違いを自然に感じながら活動に取り組むことができました。
セミナーはすべてオールEnglishで進行され、生徒たちはALTの先生方と積極的に英語でコミュニケーションをとりながら、クリスマスにまつわる文化や表現に触れました。
〇 クリスマスツリービルダー
英語だけで協力してツリーを完成！
今回のメインアクティビティは、「Christmas Tree Builder」。
ALTがリーダーとなり、英語で出される指示やヒントを聞き取りながら、グループごとにクリスマスツリーを作り上げるゲームに挑戦しました。
ALTからは、
“It needs a big star on top.”
“Put three red ornaments on the left.”
“Draw a long garland around the tree.”
といった指示がテンポよく出され、生徒たちは真剣に聞き取りながら、英語で相談し合い、役割を分担しながら作業を進めました。
グループごとに完成したツリーはどれも個性豊かで、色使いや飾りつけの工夫が光る作品ばかりでした。課題をクリアするごとに笑顔が広がり、教室はクリスマスらしい明るい雰囲気に包まれました。
英語で伝わる喜びを実感
オールEnglishでの活動に初めは緊張する生徒もいましたが、ALTの先生方のサポートにより、次第に積極的に英語で会話する姿が見られました。
「英語で伝えられて嬉しかった」「もっと話してみたくなった」などの声もあり、英語を使う楽しさを実感できる貴重な時間となりました。
今回のクリスマス英語セミナーを通して、生徒たちは教科書では味わえない“生きた英語”と“海外のクリスマス文化”に触れることができました。本校では、今後も英語への興味を高め、国際的な視野を育む取り組みを継続してまいります。
On Friday, December 6, our school held the English seminar “Christmas Special”, organized by the International Education Department. This seminar is one of our popular programs because it focuses not only on learning English, but also on using English. We hold it regularly so students can enjoy real communication in English.
For this seminar, we welcomed nine ALT teachers who work in English education around Mie Prefecture. The teachers were from many countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada. By talking with teachers from different countries, students could naturally feel the sound of English and learn about different cultures.
The seminar was conducted entirely in English, and students actively communicated with the ALTs while learning Christmas-related culture and expressions.

The main activity of the day was “Christmas Tree Builder.” In this game, each group worked to make their own Christmas tree by listening to the ALT’s instructions and hints—all in English.
The ALTs gave instructions such as:
“It needs a big star on top.”
“Put three red ornaments on the left.”
“Draw a long garland around the tree.”
Students listened carefully, discussed in English, and shared roles as they worked.
Each group created a unique and colorful tree, full of creative ideas. As they completed each task, smiles spread across the room, and the classroom was filled with a cheerful Christmas atmosphere.
Some students felt nervous about using only English at first. However, with the support of the ALTs, they soon became more confident and began speaking more actively. Many said, “I was happy that I could express myself in English,” and “I want to talk more!” It became a valuable time for them to feel how fun and exciting English communication can be.
Through this Christmas English Seminar, students experienced real, living English and learned about Christmas culture from around the world, things they cannot get from a textbook. Our school will continue to offer opportunities that increase students’ interest in English and help them develop a global mindset.
