【英語セミナー】三重高校最大の英語セミナー（世界の食べ物）

3月8日（土）、本校体育館で、国際教育部が中心となり、本年度最後の「English Seminar」を開催しました。本校で行う英語セミナーは、県内各地で活躍するALTの先生方のご協力のもと、今回は「世界の食べ物」について、All English で行いました。
生徒達は、最初は緊張気味でたどたどしい英語を話していましたが、すぐに打ち解け積極的に参加できるようになりました。
On Saturday March 8th, an English Seminar was held with the help of ALTs working in Mie Prefecture.
The theme of the English Seminar was ‘Food around the World’. The students were nervous at first. However, they soon got used to it and were able to participate actively.
本日のご協力いただいた先生方のご出身国も多彩で、南アフリカ共和国、イングランド、ウェールズ、オーストラリア、アメリカ合衆国（ジョージア、ノースカロライナ、カリフォルニア、フロリダ各州）でした。本日は、本校のALTを含め、ネイティブの先生方に10名で行いました。最初にご参加いただいたネイティブの先生方から自己紹介をいただくことから始めました。
先生方は、それぞれ異なる文化的背景を持っておられ、食に対する好みの違いが強調されていました。このような先生方と食文化を中心とした国際交流ができ、大変有意義であると感じました。
The teachers who helped were from South Africa, England, Wales, Australia and the USA (Georgia, North Carolina, California and Florida).
We began by having the native teachers introduce themselves.
The teachers came from different cultural backgrounds, so the students learned about different food cultures.

今回は、特に運動系のクラブに在籍する生徒のみで構成されている「アスリートクラス」の生徒達も多く参加していました。このクラスの一部には、国際大会などでの活躍することを目標としている生徒も在籍しており、海外の選手・役員と英語でコミュニケーションができる英語力が必要となってきます。
生徒達にとっては、英語のみで開催されるセミナーへの参加は、新鮮なもので、先生方と積極的に会話を楽しみ、生徒同士も英語のみで会話していました。
This time around, there were many participants from our “athlete course”. Since some of these students aim to compete on an international level, English will come in handy when communicating with foreign athletes.
For the students, the seminar is a unique and novel experience in which they can enjoy conversation with native teachers and their peers in all English.
